Good Pet Care - What are the real benefits?

Providing your pet with the highest quality care makes for a much better experience as a pet owner. Well cared for pets are more active, behave normally (which makes them far more interesting to watch and interact with), and in the long run much more affordable.

Well cared for pets are...

More Active

More Interesting and Engaging

Less Costly Over Time

Your pet is a part of your family. Rising to meet the challenges and responsibilities of proper pet care will bring you a great deal of satisfaction. Not to mention, the admiration of your friends, family and peers when they inspect your well crafted set up and care regime.

The opposite can be true if things go poorly. Having to explain what happened to your pet that passed away early due to bad care is not easy. Neither is dealing with the sorrow of loss and the guilt of knowing you could have done more for the scalely member of your family.

Proper reptile care is hard work, but it can be simple when you have the right resources. In no time you’ll be up to speed on the modern care techniques that can guarantee the health of your pet and your satisfaction as an owner.

Let’s jump in - The aspects of care

The Enclosure Set Up (Tank, Hides, Substrate)

Environmental conditions (Temperature and Humidity)

Diet and Nutrition

There’s a million topics to discuss with proper bearded dragon care. We think everything boils down to these topics:

  • The Enclosure set up: How big is your tank? What substrate should you use? What other things like hides need to be in there? Are there things I should avoid?
  • Environmental Conditions: What temperatures should my enclosure be at? What lights do I need? How do I manage the temperature? What is UVB and do I need it?
  • Diet and Nutrition: What should I feed my dragon? Are some things better than others? Are there things I should avoid?

What should I start with?

It depends on your situation. If you’re a new owner getting started for the first time, the best thing you can do is get your enclosure set up right, and learn how to manage the environment inside of it. Without these two things taken care of, your pet’s health can make a turn for the worse rather quickly.

Once you’re 100% certain you’ve done everything correctly with your pet’s daily environment, then we suggest you focus in on diet. One of the things you’ll learn is an improper diet does not usually have immediate consequences. Health issues that arise from diet usually take some time to manifest. This of course can be quite dangerous if you do things incorrectly over a long period of time. But it means you should take care of the more time sensitive issues like temperature first.

Learning things in the below order can be rather helpful in understanding how everything fits together. If you have a specific issue you’re focused on, you can start there.
